Wauwatosa East High School is a comprehensive four-year school located on the east side of Wauwatosa. Students from Longfellow Middle School transition into their high school education here. 

We offer four world language courses, award-winning band, choir, orchestra and theatre programs, and have a robust Academic and Career Planning team and Resource Center to ensure our students are college and career ready when they leave our doors.

Additionally, we have abundant co-curricular programming options, as well as numerous music and drama activities, and academic competitions. In all, more than 30 clubs and organizations are available to students at Wauwatosa East High School.

Wauwatosa School District is a high-achieving, forward-thinking, and richly diverse public school district serving about 7,200 students and families. Our educational community’s long history of excellence has been recognized both regionally and nationally. In 2017, the Washington Post named both of our high schools on its “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” list. The U.S. News and World Report has repeatedly recognized Wauwatosa East High School as one of the Top 25 High Schools in the state and our District has routinely “Exceeded Expectations” on state Report Cards issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. 

Our District consists of 16 schools: 11 elementary, two middle schools, two high schools and the Wauwatosa Virtual Academy. Among our schools are Wauwatosa Montessori and Wauwatosa STEM. We also offer a full STEM program at Underwood Elementary and at both of our middle schools. All of our schools offer robust parent choices when selecting educational opportunities for your child.

Additionally, our District provides the education for several county programs including Children’s Wisconsin and Vel R. Phillips School.

As part of the state accountability system, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) produces report cards for every publicly-funded school and district in Wisconsin.  These report cards include data on multiple indicators for multiple years across four priority areas (student achievement, growth, closing gaps, and on-track and post-secondary success). 

Our School Growth Plan is a critical component of school improvement. Each school in the Wauwatosa School District develops its Growth Plan, and communicates that plan with the community. Ongoing engagement between building principal, staff, parents/guardians and community members is a key component in the implementation of the School Growth Plan.
